Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center
In 2013, our national spokesperson, Beth Stern, and Senior Vice President of Operations, Joanne Yohannan, discussed the issues surrounding feline homelessness and what we could do to address them. Out of that conversation came the idea for an adoption center devoted to the rescue, socialization, care, and adoption of cats and kittens.
Today, Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center or BFF as we affectionately call it, named in memory of Beth and Howard Stern’s dog and the legacy of love she left behind, stands as a 14,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, addition to the second floor of our Adoption Center. This new facility will help us save even more lives, and not just cats and kittens, but also more dogs and puppies as it frees up space in our existing shelter.
As a cage-free adoption center, BFF allows for maximum socialization, which is crucial in matching cats with potential adopters. In addition, this kind of environment helps felines stave off depression and aggression, which are often the products of stress brought on by living in a cage. BFF will help cats feel calmer and more confident, leading to shorter stays and positive matchmaking experiences for both felines and adopters.
