Bound and Determined to Protect Her Pups

Not even a coyote trap was going to stop Dolly — only a year old herself — from taking care of her babies. When North Carolina Animal Control discovered Dolly in the woods, she had the jaws of a trap clamped painfully onto her front paw, and her two precious puppies right by her side.

Freya arrived at our Pet Health Centers enormously pregnant, and just in time. Transported to us with the help of our Tennessee-based animal rescue partner Rescue Dog and End of Life Sanctuary, this two-year-old Cattle Dog was about to face a fight for survival.

Kentucky Tornado Rescue Relief

As Kentucky and the surrounding areas deal with the aftermath of the recent tornados that hit the region, our Emergency Rescue Team is reaching out to our local partner shelters affected by the storm. We are prepared to help in any way we can, including rescuing and taking in animals that found themselves displaced from their loved ones. Below is a listing of shelters that can use your support. Helping Recovery Efforts in the Gulf Coast Region

Though Hurricane Ida has come and gone in most people’s memories, the residents of the Gulf Coast region are still struggling. Electricity remains scarce in some areas, and access to gas and basic household goods is limited. Supported by the generosity of our local community, North Shore Animal League America continues to show up for the people and animals of the region.

Hurricane Ida Canine Rescues Arrive to Helping Hands

On Labor Day, 55 adorable canines exited our Mobile Rescue Unit into the bright sunshine, and into the helping hands of dozens of North Shore Animal League America volunteers and staff. These precious dogs and puppies now have a second chance at life with help from our shelter partner, Paws4Life. They were rescued from Louisiana-area shelters in advance of Hurricane Ida, in order to make room for animals displaced by the storm.

Hurricane Ida Relief

Our Emergency Rescue Team has been in contact with our shelter partner, Paws4Life in Shreveport, Louisiana, as they prepare for Hurricane Ida. The storm is coming in fast and is expected to make landfall this Sunday. We are currently preparing our team to make the journey to help them deal with the aftermath in any way we can. At this difficult time supplies will be hard to come by for those affected by this storm. You can help by donating much needed supplies that our Emergency Rescue Team will bring to the area to be distributed to Paws4Life and other affected shelters in surrounding areas.

Our Animal Rescue Efforts Are Taking to the Skies

This past weekend it was clear skies ahead for the 21 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens who landed at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, NY, on their way to Animal League America and a brighter future. Through a new collaboration with Amelia Air Animal Rescue, and the efforts of our South Carolina partner Lakeside Animal Rescue, Animal League America was able to save these precious animals, some of whom were pulled from overcrowded shelters. All these animals are now well on their way to finding responsible, loving homes as safely and quickly as possible.
