Does my current dog at home have to be neutered for me to adopt from the shelter? He is 10 and never mated.

Many shelters will not adopt to a person who has an unspayed/unneutered animal at home but that decision is generally made on a case by case basis. Spaying/neutering not only help to control the overpopulation of dogs and cats but may also provide health benefits. Planned and unplanned breeding contribute to the overpopulation problem. It just takes that one time an animal runs out or goes missing, even briefly, for the animal to breed. Most people do not expect that to happen but, sadly, it does.
