Question

I got 2 dogs from a rescue and it's not working out with the female. I messaged the lady I got the dogs from, and she said if she had to come get the female she would take the male, too. Do I have to give up both dogs?

Answer

First and foremost, consider that if these dogs are a bonded pair, it would be inhumane to separate them. Some adoption agreements specifically state that if animals are adopted together, they must remain together, including when/if returned. Even if there is no such agreement, I hope that you will do what is best for the dogs.
